When you say "B" over a crackly radio, it can easily sound like "D" or "E". In an emergency, one misheard letter could mean the wrong location gets the rescue team.

Unique Words That Cannot Clash

"Bravo" cannot be mistaken for "Delta". Each NATO word is chosen so it sounds completely different from all 25 others, in any language or accent.
